While worn, it functions as a chain shirt that grants +1 to AC over the base 13 (Dex modifier capped as normal at +2). Unlike standard chain shirts, the wearer is considered proficient with it even without Medium Armor proficiency. It generates no stealth disadvantage. Elven nobles, half-elf bards, and spellcasters who flunked weapons drills cherish the chain for letting them stack reliable armor without sacrificing class identity or feature compatibility.
