How Wizard spellcasting works
Wizards add spells to a spellbook once and prepare from that book daily using Intelligence. The spellbook is the long-term decision; the prep list is the daily one. Arcane Recovery returns expended slots after a short rest, so Wizards run hotter than other casters.
How to pick Wizard spells
Pick a school of magic at level 2 (Evocation, Abjuration, Divination, etc.) and lean prep into that school's strengths. Save daily prep slots for a mix of always-on (Shield via Reaction, Misty Step), encounter-shapers (Counterspell, Fireball), and rest-day utility (Identify, Tiny Hut).
