Description

Name or describe a famous person, place, or object. The spell brings to your mind a brief summary of the significant lore about that famous thing, as described by the DM. The lore might consist of important details, amusing revelations, or even secret lore that has never been widely known. The more information you already know about the thing, the more precise and detailed the information you receive is. That information is accurate but might be couched in figurative language or poetry, as determined by the DM. If the famous thing you chose isn't actually famous, you hear sad musical notes played on a trombone, and the spell fails.

School Fit

Divination spells answer the questions adventurers ask: where is the enemy hiding, what does the artefact do, who set the trap. Legend Lore is Divination because the spell answers a question the caster could not otherwise reach. At level 5, the slot economy tightens — Legend Lore competes with the strongest spells in the band.

Class Fit

  • Bard: College of Lore Bards have the easiest case for Legend Lore: Magical Secrets means the class can reach outside the standard list to grab adjacent picks.
  • Cleric: On a Cleric sheet, Legend Lore competes with Bless, Spiritual Weapon, Spirit Guardians, and Healing Word for daily prep slots.
  • Wizard: Arcane Recovery returns one or two slots on a short rest. Legend Lore's slot cost is therefore not exactly what the slot column says.
