Description
You create an Invisible sensor within range in a location familiar to you (a place you have visited or seen before) or in an obvious location that is unfamiliar to you (such as behind a door, around a corner, or in a grove of trees). The intangible, invulnerable sensor remains in place for the duration. When you cast the spell, choose seeing or hearing. You can use the chosen sense through the sensor as if you were in its space. As a Bonus Action, you can switch between seeing and hearing. A creature that sees the sensor (such as a creature benefiting from See Invisibility or Truesight) sees a luminous orb about the size of your fist.

School Fit
Divinations are the school of foresight. Some peek a few seconds ahead; the strongest see entire futures. The school tag on Clairvoyance comes from its method, not its damage — the spell answers a question the caster could not otherwise reach. At level 3, daily slot counts allow Clairvoyance to be cast multiple times across the adventuring day.
Class Fit
- Bard: College of Valor and College of Swords Bards lean toward melee — Clairvoyance earns its slot if it works inside or around weapon-attack turns. Note that Clairvoyance requires concentration; switching to a second concentration spell ends it.
- Cleric: On a Cleric sheet, Clairvoyance competes with Bless, Spiritual Weapon, Spirit Guardians, and Healing Word for daily prep slots. Damage taken while concentrating on Clairvoyance forces a Con save at DC 10 or half damage, whichever is higher.
- Sorcerer: Subtle Spell removes the verbal and somatic components; if Clairvoyance normally has both, Subtle lets the Sorcerer cast in chains or in a noble's parlor. Keep in mind that Clairvoyance ends the moment the caster takes concentration off it for any reason.
- Wizard: At tier 1 Wizards have small prepared lists. Clairvoyance earns its place by either being always-relevant (Shield, Mage Armor) or by being the right answer to a known problem. 1 mile is enough range that Clairvoyance doesn't pull the caster forward.
