Doungim Lore
School Fit
Transmutation magic is the least flashy school and arguably the most powerful. A single Polymorph can decide a tier-3 fight by itself. Longstrider sits in Transmutation because the spell rewrites a property of a body, an object, or terrain. The 1st-level slot is the most-cast slot of tier 1 — Longstrider earns its place there or somewhere else.
Class Fit
- Bard: On a Bard sheet, Longstrider competes with Counterspell, Greater Invisibility, and Polymorph for known-spell budget. Pick it when those don't fit the day's planned arc. Longstrider scales when upcast — see the higher-level note on the spell page.
- Druid: Druids prepare Longstrider from the full list each day, but the Wild Shape economy means prep cycles look different from a Cleric's. Upcasting Longstrider changes the effect; the spell page lists the per-slot scaling.
- Ranger: A Ranger picking Longstrider compares it against the class's bread-and-butter Hunter's Mark — the slot economy favors picks that work in more than one terrain. At higher spell-slot levels Longstrider grows — refer to the upcast clause for the exact terms.
- Wizard: The Wizard's daily prep list is the class's flexibility lever — every long rest is a chance to reconsider what Longstrider is doing on the sheet. The higher-level scaling on Longstrider is described in the spell text; check it before upcasting.
