Description

You take control of the weather within 5 miles of you for the duration. You must be outdoors to cast this spell, and it ends early if you go indoors. When you cast the spell, you change the current weather conditions, which are determined by the DM. You can change precipitation, temperature, and wind. It takes 1d4 x 10 minutes for the new conditions to take effect. Once they do so, you can change the conditions again. When the spell ends, the weather gradually returns to normal. When you change the weather conditions, find a current condition on the following tables and change its stage by one, up or down. When changing the wind, you can change its direction.

School Fit

Transmutation is the school of change. Its spells turn one thing into another, alter the rules of an object, or rewrite the parameters of a body. The school tag on Control Weather is earned by the spell rewrites a property of a body, an object, or terrain. Top-tier slots like the one Control Weather uses are deployed once or twice per campaign arc, not per session.

Class Fit

  • Cleric: Life Domain Clerics value Control Weather differently from War or Trickery Clerics; the Domain's identity shapes which spells become signature. The concentration tag on Control Weather means a single failed Constitution save can end the effect mid-encounter.
  • Druid: Circle of the Moon Druids spend most of their turns in Wild Shape — Control Weather earns its slot only if the build expects to cast in humanoid form. As a concentration spell, Control Weather occupies the caster's single concentration slot.
  • Wizard: Arcane Recovery returns one or two slots on a short rest. Control Weather's slot cost is therefore not exactly what the slot column says. Concentration is the binding cost — Control Weather can't share a slot with another concentration spell.
