Description
A flame springs from an object that you touch. The effect casts Bright Light in a 20-foot radius and Dim Light for an additional 20 feet. It looks like a regular flame, but it creates no heat and consumes no fuel. The flame can be covered or hidden but not smothered or quenched.

School Fit
Evocations are the most demanding spells to position. The same fireball that wins the fight from twenty feet up loses it from twenty feet down. Continual Flame is Evocation: the spell focuses magical energy into a visible, immediate effect. At level 2, Continual Flame sits in the mid-tier slot competition.
Class Fit
- Cleric: Channel Divinity is the Cleric's Bonus-Action competitor; pair Continual Flame with Channel Divinity only if both fit the same turn.
- Druid: Druids consider Continual Flame against the Wild Shape baseline — every spell cast is a turn not spent transforming.
- Wizard: Wizards add Continual Flame to the spellbook once and prepare it on the days that warrant it — a different decision from the class's known-spell competitors.
