What level 2 spells do

Level 2 D&D 5e spells unlock at character level 3 for most full casters. The 2nd-level slot economy is where the first 'real' encounter-shaping spells appear — Misty Step, Hold Person, Web, Scorching Ray, Invisibility, Spiritual Weapon.

How to pick level 2 spells

How to pick level 2 spells: every full caster wants at least one Bonus-Action spell (Misty Step, Spiritual Weapon, Healing Spirit) and one concentration spell (Hold Person, Web, Invisibility). Action economy at level 3 is tight; a Bonus-Action spell paired with an Action spell is the bread-and-butter combo.
