School Fit
Abjuration is the school every adventurer is grateful for and few cast offensively. Its strength is that the strongest abjurations leave nothing for the chronicler to describe. Prayer of Healing reads as Abjuration the moment a player sees what it does — the spell ends, prevents, or absorbs an effect that would otherwise land. At level 2, daily slot counts allow Prayer of Healing to be cast multiple times across the adventuring day.
Class Fit
- Cleric: At tier 1 a Cleric has maybe four prep slots; Prayer of Healing is competing with healing options for that limited count. Prayer of Healing has an at-higher-levels rule; the spell's per-slot scaling makes upcasting worthwhile in the right context.
- Paladin: Tier-2 Paladins get fewer slots than a full caster but Smite makes each slot count for more damage; Prayer of Healing earns its place when damage isn't what's needed. Prayer of Healing scales when upcast — see the higher-level note on the spell page.
