Doungim Lore
School Fit
The Abjuration tradition is the spellcaster's defence cabinet. It is the school of warded doors, of wards over thresholds, of shields raised in the moment of the attack. What lands Lesser Restoration here is straightforward — the spell ends, prevents, or absorbs an effect that would otherwise land. 2nd-level slots become common enough that Lesser Restoration can be cast in two or three encounters per long rest.
Class Fit
- Bard: College of Valor and College of Swords Bards lean toward melee — Lesser Restoration earns its slot if it works inside or around weapon-attack turns. The Bonus-Action cost on Lesser Restoration pairs cleanly with an Action spell on the same turn.
- Cleric: Clerics prepare Lesser Restoration from the full Cleric list each day; the question is not whether the class knows it but whether today is the day to prep it. Casting Lesser Restoration leaves the Action free — most builds spend it on a cantrip or weapon attack.
- Druid: Land Druids gain bonus circle spells by terrain; if Lesser Restoration is already on the chosen terrain list, save the manual prep slot for something else. The Bonus-Action timing on Lesser Restoration blocks any other Bonus-Action spell that turn — only one per round.
- Paladin: Oath bonus spells fill some of the prep automatically — Vengeance gets Bane and Hunter's Mark, Devotion gets Protection from Evil — check before adding Lesser Restoration manually. Because Lesser Restoration uses a Bonus Action, the caster can still cast an Action spell that same turn.
- Ranger: Gloom Stalker, Hunter, Fey Wanderer, Drakewarden, and Horizon Walker each shape what Lesser Restoration is worth: subclass-bonus spells reshape the known-spell budget. Casting Lesser Restoration leaves the Action free — most builds spend it on a cantrip or weapon attack.
