School Fit
Abjuration is the school every adventurer is grateful for and few cast offensively. Its strength is that the strongest abjurations leave nothing for the chronicler to describe. Protection from Poison earns the Abjuration tag through the spell ends, prevents, or absorbs an effect that would otherwise land. At level 2, Protection from Poison sits in the mid-tier slot competition.
Class Fit
- Cleric: Channel Divinity is the Cleric's Bonus-Action competitor; pair Protection from Poison with Channel Divinity only if both fit the same turn.
- Druid: Druid concentration is precious. Most Druids prep one big concentration spell and one non-concentration utility per day; Protection from Poison fits one of those slots.
- Paladin: On a Paladin's prep list, Protection from Poison competes with Bless, Find Steed, Heroism, Aura of Vitality, and Banishment for daily slots.
- Ranger: Rangers tend to pick Protection from Poison when the campaign terrain matches the spell's strengths. Forest-heavy campaigns favor different spells than desert ones.
