Description

Choose a willing creature that you can see within range. Until the spell ends, the target's Speed is doubled, it gains a +2 bonus to Armor Class, it has Advantage on Dexterity saving throws, and it gains an additional action on each of its turns. That action can be used to take only the Attack (one attack only), Dash, Disengage, Hide, or Utilize action. When the spell ends, the target is Incapacitated and has a Speed of 0 until the end of its next turn, as a wave of lethargy washes over it.

5e (2014) vs 2024 changes

This spell has both a 5e (2014) and 2024 Player's Handbook version. Doungim shows the current 2024 stat block above. Differences between editions typically affect components, range, or scaling — check both source books for the table.

Doungim Lore

School Fit

Haste is Transmutation — the school of change, here applied to one willing creature. Double speed, +2 AC, advantage on Dex saves, and an extra Action that can be used for the Attack (one weapon attack only), Dash, Disengage, Hide, or Use an Object actions. Concentration; ends with a save fail and the target is incapacitated for 1 round.

Class Fit

  • Sorcerer: Sorcerers know Haste as their signature concentration buff. Twinned Spell turns one slot into two-target Haste — the canonical 'Quickened Twinned Haste' play is the Sorcerer's defining tier-2 round.
  • Wizard: Wizards prep Haste from level 5 onwards. Transmutation Wizards specifically benefit from features that extend or stabilize the concentration cost.
