Description
You teleport to a location within range. You arrive at exactly the spot desired. It can be a place you can see, one you can visualize, or one you can describe by stating distance and direction, such as "200 feet straight downward" or "300 feet upward to the northwest at a 45-degree angle." You can also teleport one willing creature. The creature must be within 5 feet of you when you teleport, and it teleports to a space within 5 feet of your destination space. If you, the other creature, or both would arrive in a space occupied by a creature or completely filled by one or more objects, you and any creature traveling with you each take 4d6 Force damage, and the teleportation fails.

Doungim Lore
School Fit
Conjurations move matter and creatures through space. Half the school summons; the other half teleports. On the school axis, Dimension Door is Conjuration: the spell places matter or creatures into the world that were not there before the cast. At level 4, the slot economy tightens — Dimension Door competes with the strongest spells in the band.
Class Fit
- Bard: At the Bard table, Dimension Door matters most when the College's signature features are on cooldown or out of charges. Otherwise the class has cheaper answers. At 500 feet, Dimension Door stays usable from the caster's typical positioning.
- Sorcerer: Metamagic is the angle for Dimension Door on a Sorcerer. Twin, Quicken, Subtle, Heightened, and Extended each change what the spell does at the table. 500 feet is enough range that Dimension Door doesn't pull the caster forward.
- Warlock: Warlocks recover slots on short rests, so Dimension Door is castable more times per day than a Wizard's equivalent — but only one or two between rests. Dimension Door reaches 500 feet, which lets the caster stay clear of the front line.
- Wizard: The Wizard's daily prep list is the class's flexibility lever — every long rest is a chance to reconsider what Dimension Door is doing on the sheet. The 500-foot range on Dimension Door leaves room for the caster to stay in the back line.
