D&D 5e Level 4 Spells
All 34 D&D 5e level 4 spells. To cast one you need a level 4 spell slot or higher. Many lower-level spells scale up when cast from a higher slot — check each spell page for the "At Higher Levels" rule.
What level 4 spells do
Level 4 D&D 5e spells unlock at character level 7. The 4th-level slot is the first 'precious' slot — most builds get only 1 to 3 of these per long rest at tier 2. Polymorph, Banishment, Greater Invisibility, Dimension Door, Wall of Fire are the signature picks.
How to pick level 4 spells
How to pick level 4 spells: prioritise spells that remove an enemy from the fight (Polymorph, Banishment) or that swing the encounter's geometry (Wall of Fire, Dimension Door). Damage-only level 4 spells are usually worse than upcasting a level 3 damage spell.
Tier expectations at level 4 spells
Concentration is the limiting factor — most level 4 spells require it. Pick one concentration spell to prep and one non-concentration spell (Death Ward, Stoneskin, Resilient Sphere) for backup.
