Description
A swirling cloud of embers and smoke fills a 20-foot-radius Sphere centered on a point within range. The cloud's area is Heavily Obscured. It lasts for the duration or until a strong wind (like that created by Gust of Wind) disperses it. When the cloud appears, each creature in it makes a Dexterity saving throw, taking 10d8 Fire damage on a failed save or half as much damage on a successful one. A creature must also make this save when the Sphere moves into its space and when it enters the Sphere or ends its turn there. A creature makes this save only once per turn. The cloud moves 10 feet away from you in a direction you choose at the start of each of your turns.

Doungim Lore
School Fit
The Conjuration tradition is for casters who think one step ahead — a wall of fog before the ambush, a horse before the long ride, a familiar before the dungeon. The school tag on Incendiary Cloud is obvious from the effect — the spell places matter or creatures into the world that were not there before the cast. The 8th-level slot is the spellcaster's bank vault; Incendiary Cloud earns the cast or it doesn't.
Class Fit
- Druid: Land Druids gain bonus circle spells by terrain; if Incendiary Cloud is already on the chosen terrain list, save the manual prep slot for something else. Incendiary Cloud reaches 150 feet, which lets the caster stay clear of the front line.
- Sorcerer: Twin Spell turns single-target spells into two-target spells; if Incendiary Cloud is single-target, Twin doubles its value. The concentration tag on Incendiary Cloud means a single failed Constitution save can end the effect mid-encounter.
- Wizard: On a Wizard sheet, Incendiary Cloud competes for prep slot with Misty Step, Counterspell, Shield (a Reaction always worth prepping), Fireball, Polymorph, and the higher-tier wall and force spells. Keep in mind that Incendiary Cloud ends the moment the caster takes concentration off it for any reason.
