School Fit
Necromancy magic is the school of vitality and its absence. Spells in it drain hit points, ignore deaths, or animate corpses. The Necromancy school is the right home for Poison Spray thanks to the spell works on the boundary between life and death — draining, raising, or extending vitality. Cantrips like Poison Spray scale with character level, not slot cost.
Class Fit
- Druid: Druids prepare Poison Spray from the full list each day, but the Wild Shape economy means prep cycles look different from a Cleric's. 30 feet is enough range that Poison Spray doesn't pull the caster forward.
- Sorcerer: Sorcerers know very few spells. Poison Spray is a permanent decision — the spell stays on the sheet unless the Sorcerer pays a level-up swap. At 30 feet, Poison Spray stays usable from the caster's typical positioning.
- Warlock: Warlocks recover slots on short rests, so Poison Spray is castable more times per day than a Wizard's equivalent — but only one or two between rests. The 30-foot range on Poison Spray leaves room for the caster to stay in the back line.
- Wizard: Tier 3 and tier 4 Wizards add 5th-9th level spells to the book — Poison Spray interacts with those upper-tier picks as part of a full prep loadout. Poison Spray reaches 30 feet, which lets the caster stay clear of the front line.
