Top 10 D&D 5e Feats Worth Trading an ASI For
The ten feats in D&D 5e that beat a +2 to a stat — Lucky, War Caster, Sentinel, Polearm Master, and six more.
Most feats are weaker than a +2 to your main stat. These ten are the exceptions — feats so strong that you take them over the ASI every time.
- 1.Lucky
Three luck points per long rest; reroll any d20 (yours or an attack against you). Game-changing.
- 2.War Caster
Advantage on Constitution saves to maintain concentration. Required for melee casters.
- 3.Sentinel
Opportunity attacks reduce target speed to 0. Anchor enemies on the front line.
- 4.Polearm Master
Bonus-action haft attack with d4 damage plus opportunity attacks on enemies entering reach.
- 5.Great Weapon Master
-5 to hit / +10 damage option. With Bless and Bardic Inspiration, this is the highest-DPR feat in the game.
- 6.Sharpshooter
Ranged version of Great Weapon Master. Range bands no longer matter.
- 7.Resilient (Con)
Constitution save proficiency. The cheapest way to lock down concentration after War Caster.
- 8.Alert
+5 to initiative; can't be surprised. Wizards and Rogues should take this at level 4.
- 9.Telekinetic
Free bonus-action shove or pull at 30 ft. Combos with every front-line setup.
- 10.Skill Expert
+1 to one ability, proficiency in one skill, expertise in one skill. Half-feat utility.
