Ecology
Blink Dogs are **lawful good fey** native to the Feywild's pine-and-meadow regions, but commonly found on the Material Plane in old-growth forests. They live in pack-families of 6–12, hunting goblins, kobolds, and other chaotic creatures by teleporting in formation. They eat small mammals and forest fruits but prefer the meat of evil fey and gnolls. They have a deep telepathic bond — Pack-Tongue — that allows silent coordination.
Behaviour
Blink Dogs are **friendly to good-aligned creatures, hostile to evil ones**. They detect alignment by scent and posture and react accordingly. They never speak aloud but communicate via short telepathic bursts to creatures they trust. A blink dog pack will adopt a lost child, escort a paladin through dangerous woods, or guard a sacred grove. They despise being mounted or used as combat tools by allies.
Origin
Sylvan tradition holds that the first blink dogs were fey hunting hounds whose master, a tragic Court warden, sacrificed themselves to save the Feywild from a chromatic invasion. The hounds inherited a fragment of teleportation magic and the duty to hunt chaotic evil wherever it appeared. Pack elders wear small bone tokens carved with the warden's symbol, and consider it sacred lineage.
