Ecology
Fire giants live in volcanic strongholds carved from black basalt, organized into clan-kingdoms ruled by warlord-smiths. They mine, forge, and conquer, and their hierarchy is purely martial; the strongest smith is the king. They keep slaves, often dwarves and goblinoids, to mine the deep iron and tend the forges. Their cities ring constantly with hammers, and their rivers are channeled magma, used both for industry and execution.
Behaviour
Fire giants are disciplined, hierarchical, and merciless to outsiders. They value strength, craftsmanship, and martial honor. They are not stupid; their society includes engineers, tacticians, and historians, but their culture rewards deeds over words. They feud with frost giants and dwarves, both rivals in mountain crafts. Toward humans they are dismissive, considering most too small to bother enslaving and too weak to be worthy enemies.
Origin
Fire giants claim descent from Surtur, the giant-king of fire, who in their myth will end the world by setting it ablaze. They believe their forges are rehearsals for that ending, and every weapon they make is a piece of the final conflagration. Theologically opposed to the cloud and storm giants of the upper ordinal hierarchy, they consider those clans degenerate and overdue for correction by hammer and flame.
