Ecology
Giant Sharks patrol open oceans, attacking merchant ships, migrating whales, and unwary swimmers caught far from shore. They are pelagic predators, traveling thousands of miles in seasonal hunts following warm currents. They eat continuously, requiring vast amounts of meat to sustain their bulk and ceaseless motion. They reproduce by live birth, with mothers immediately abandoning pups to fend for themselves. Pups grow rapidly in coastal nurseries before joining open-ocean migrations.
Behaviour
Solitary except in feeding frenzies, Giant Sharks are drawn to blood, splashing, and electrical disturbances. They circle prey for minutes to hours before striking, sometimes ramming hulls to test resistance. They have no natural enemies except larger sharks, killer whales, and aquatic dragons. They occasionally beach themselves chasing prey into shallows, dying ignominiously when tides recede.
Origin
Whether megalodon survivors, magical mutations, or ordinary sharks grown to terrifying size by deep-sea pressure, Giant Sharks have always swum oceans. Sailors fear them more than any other natural threat. Sahuagin worship them as avatars of Sekolah, their shark-god, and ride lesser sharks into battle while making offerings to the great ones. Some legendary specimens are named in port-town stories, surviving spear-decades of attempts to kill them.
