Ecology
Gnoll warriors range across savannah, desert, and dry forest, traveling in bands of six to twenty. They hunt by night and feast through the day, leaving butchered remains as offerings to Yeenoghu. They do not farm, build, or maintain lasting settlements; they migrate constantly, following prey and raids. They reproduce rapidly, with females birthing litters of three to five pups annually after Yeenoghu's blood-rituals corrupt them from natural hyenas.
Behaviour
Gnoll warriors are cruel, bloodthirsty, and zealous in their devotion to the demon prince Yeenoghu. They take pleasure in suffering, drag captives along to torture at length, and never spare the wounded. They cannot be reasoned with by non-gnolls. They are organized in pack hierarchies, with the strongest leading. They speak Gnoll, a guttural language interspersed with hyena-laughter. They despise kindness, civilization, and order.
Origin
Gnolls are not naturally born; they arise when hyenas feast on demonic remains left by Yeenoghu's incursions, transforming over a single night into bipedal warriors. Each gnoll carries a fragment of the demon prince's hunger. They are Fiend-typed in 2024 rules to reflect this origin. Killing the hyena ancestor breaks the line, but as long as Yeenoghu reaches into the world, fresh gnolls will rise.
