Ecology
Goblin minions form the bulk of any warband, doing the digging, cooking, and dying that bosses and warriors avoid. They live in cramped warrens, tents, or stolen barns, sleeping in piles for warmth. They eat whatever scraps remain after their betters have feasted. They breed prolifically, producing litters of three to six minionlings each year, of whom most do not survive their first raid. Lifespan is short.
Behaviour
Goblin minions are scurrying, easily frightened, and surprisingly cheerful between catastrophes. They sing, gamble, and tell stories around campfires when not under attack. They flee any superior threat without shame. They are loyal to bosses out of fear rather than affection and abandon dead leaders without ceremony. They speak Goblin and broken Common. They are Chaotic Neutral, capable of kindness if treated kindly.
Origin
Like all goblins in 2024 rules, minions are Fey, descended from a fallen pact between mortal goblin-spirits and the Feywild. The minion stat block represents the youngest, weakest, or most expendable members of a warband. They are not born minions; they remain minions through inability to advance, dying or being promoted into warriors. Their fey blood manifests as Nimble Escape, a flicker of glamour-step inherited from ancestors.
