Ecology
Hezrou are toad-like demons of the Abyss, dwelling in fetid pools, underground swamps, and ichor-filled caverns. They feed on lesser demons, mortal souls, and decomposing matter. They have no biological reproduction; new Hezrou form when sufficient chaos and filth accumulates in the Abyss, condensing from the plane itself. They serve in demon armies as shock troops, stenching battlefields and demoralizing mortal foes.
Behaviour
Brutal, hungry, and gleefully cruel, Hezrou speak Abyssal in croaking laughter. They lack subtlety, charging into combat with bellowing roars, smashing whatever stands before them. Their stench is involuntary, a constant aura that drives away non-fiendish allies. They serve any stronger demon who feeds them prey, switching loyalties freely when the price is right.
Origin
Some sages claim Hezrou form from drowned giants in Abyssal swamps, others that they congeal from miasma when mortal sins of gluttony reach critical mass. They are summoned by foolish or desperate cultists who bargain for raw destructive power. A summoner unwise enough to forget the protective circle invariably becomes the Hezrou's first meal, leaving the demon free on the Material Plane until banishment or death.
