Ecology
Pegasi dwell in high glades, mountain meadows, and celestial planes, drinking from sacred springs and feeding on enchanted grasses. They mate for life and raise foals in cliffside aeries reachable only by flight. Predators avoid them; their hooves shed Radiant damage that scars even celestial flesh. Pegasi gather in herds of 6–12 led by a matriarch, migrating with the seasons between mortal and Upper Plane.
Behaviour
Calm but proud, the pegasus communes with druids, paladins, and other Good-aligned beings via empathic resonance rather than speech. It cannot be ridden by an unworthy creature; attempts trigger violent throws and possible death. Pegasi flee evil presence on instinct and gather to defend wounded kin. They sing at dawn, a sound said to lift curses if heard with a pure heart.
Origin
Pegasi are gifts of celestial powers, born from mortal horses blessed by the Outer Planes or descended from the steed Pegasus of myth. Some traditions hold they are incarnations of slain heroes' virtuous spirits. In planar settings, herds graze on Mount Celestia or the upper layers of Arborea. Necromancers who try to bind a pegasus typically end up dead, the carcass suggesting an explosive Radiant defense.
