Ecology
Satyrs inhabit deep forests, sacred groves, and wine-rich glades, often near fey gates to the Feywild. They feed on fruit, mushrooms, and game, but mostly on revelry; their joy is sustenance. They live in loose tribes of 5–20, led by the most charismatic singer rather than the strongest warrior. Mating habits are notoriously fluid, producing rare half-fey lineages that emerge generations later.
Behaviour
Hedonistic, musical, and prankster-inclined, the satyr loves wine, song, dance, and lovers. Conflict bores it; it prefers to mock, charm, or trick adversaries. Driven to anger, it fights with shortsword and panicked hooves but often calls fey allies first. Satyrs respect those who match their wit, whether in song-duel, riddle, or flirt-battle. They despise those who damage groves or harm fellow fey.
Origin
Satyrs are descendants of the Faerie Court, born from couplings of fey nobles and woodland deities. Some are pure fey, others have mortal blood. Ancient satyr lines guard sacred wineries, growing grapes blessed by the Summer Queen. In some campaign worlds, satyrs and fauns are different species; in others, identical. Bards trace their tradition to a satyr named Selenios who taught the first mortal poets.
