Ecology
Young copper dragons inhabit hill country, rocky cliffs, and high-altitude plateaus. They eat livestock, wild deer, and the occasional bandit. They hoard art, jokes (recorded in books), and unusual riddle-objects. They share their hill-territory with goats, sheep, and small communities, often befriending shepherds with whom they trade gossip and pranks. A young copper, roughly a century old, has just established its own cliff-lair after a long apprenticeship under a parent.
Behaviour
Copper dragons are tricksters and jokesters. They love riddles, jokes, pranks, and clever conversation. They are good-aligned but often misbehave in harmless ways: stealing a hat, hiding belongings, telling tall tales. They speak Draconic, Common, and Sylvan (which they consider a superior language for jokes). They hate being upstaged or out-witted; rivals who beat them in clever-contests earn lifetime grudges. They love drinks and storytelling, often hosting tavern-style gatherings in their lairs.
Origin
Copper dragons descend from Bahamut, sharing metallic-good lineage. They are the trickster branch of the family, distinguished from the more solemn silver and bronze dragons. Their eggs hatch in clutches of two or three; siblings often remain friends across centuries, exchanging jokes and pranks. Young coppers leave home around eighty and establish their own lairs by a hundred. They consider themselves especially blessed by Bahamut for laughter, and often invoke laughter as a form of prayer.
