Description
Copying spells from this book into your spellbook takes half the time it would normally take.
This spellbook is cursed. The spell reveals the spells that it contains and the trait, but does not reveal any of the book's other properties. Casting the spell on this item causes it to crumble into dust, destroying it permanently.
When you next complete a Long Rest after copying one or more spells from this book, you awake feeling that something has been lost. For every spell you copied, you lose the knowledge of a randomly-selected spell of that level or lower. Affected spells are removed from your spellbook. If you have an affected spell prepared, it is immediately unprepared and you can prepare another spell in its place, if one is available. Cantrips and spells copied from this spellbook are unaffected. If you do not have an eligible spell, nothing happens.
For each spell you have lost, a new page appears in the back of the devouring spellbook. To you, the page appears like a shifting pattern of illegible runes; you can recognize the spell, but cannot copy it.
