Description
These small spiraling shells come in an identical pair. While holding one of the shells, you can use your action to expend one charge to cast the spell, targeting the bearer of the matching shell. If the paired shell is not held by another creature, you are aware and the spell is not cast.
A pair of shells share charges. When you cast using either shell, the maximum number of words that can be spoken as part of the message or its response is equal to the number of the shells' remaining charges. The shells start with 25 charges, so the spell functions normally the first time the shells are used, then with one fewer available words on the next casting, etc.
Expended charges are not reset. As charges are expended, hairline fractures appear on each shell. When the final charge is expended, the shells shatter and are destroyed.
