Ecology
Young white dragons inhabit arctic regions: glaciers, ice caves, snow-covered mountains, and frozen lakes. They eat seals, walruses, polar bears, mammoths, and ice-dwelling humanoids. Their lairs are ice-caves carved into glaciers, often shared with their parents until adolescence. They hoard treasure crudely: piles of gold and gems mixed with frozen prey-corpses, no organization. A young white, around eighty, has only recently left parental care and is establishing minimal independent territory in frigid wilderness.
Behaviour
White dragons are the least intelligent and most bestial of all dragons. They communicate in basic Draconic but have limited vocabulary and abstract thought. They are aggressive, vindictive, and surprisingly long-grudge-holding for creatures of their cognitive level: a white dragon insulted in youth may seek revenge across decades. They have no diplomacy, no political alliances, and rarely cooperate with other dragons except parents and siblings during hunting drives. They cannot resist food and may abandon strategic positioning for an easy meal.
Origin
White dragons descend from Tiamat, the chromatic dragon goddess. Among chromatics, they are considered the lowest caste: dim, brutish, useful only as muscle. Other chromatics deride them, particularly greens and reds. Whites accept this hierarchy poorly but cannot effectively counter the more cunning kin. Their eggs hatch in glacier-cave clutches of two or three; sibling rivalry is murderous, and many young whites bear scars from their own brood-mates surviving the same childhood.
