Doungim Lore

School Fit

Bless is Enchantment because the spell touches the minds of the targets — they feel divinely favored, and their next d20 rolls reflect that confidence with a +1d4 bonus to attack rolls and saving throws. The school is about altering targets at the mental level; Bless does it gently, upward.

Class Fit

  • Cleric: Bless is the Cleric's round-one tempo spell. One concentration slot, three willing targets, each getting +1d4 to attack rolls and saves for up to a minute. Bless changes the to-hit math on every front-line attack and shifts the encounter probability toward the party.
  • Paladin: Paladins almost always prepare Bless. The Bonus Action it freed up by being an Action spell goes to Smite damage; the Bless effect itself pushes Smite hits over the line by adding +1d4 to the attack roll. Most Paladin builds prep Bless in every loadout that includes combat.
