Description
For the duration, sunlight spreads from a point within range and fills a 60-foot-radius Sphere. The sunlight's area is Bright Light and sheds Dim Light for an additional 60 feet. Alternatively, you cast the spell on an object that isn't being worn or carried, causing the sunlight to fill a 60-foot Emanation originating from that object. Covering that object with something opaque, such as a bowl or helm, blocks the sunlight. If any of this spell's area overlaps with an area of Darkness created by a spell of level 3 or lower, that other spell is dispelled.

School Fit
Evocations are the most cinematic spells. They make a sound, they make a colour, they leave a scorch mark on the wall. Daylight sits in Evocation because the spell focuses magical energy into a visible, immediate effect. At level 3, Daylight sits in the mid-tier slot competition.
Class Fit
- Cleric: A Cleric's prep is the most flexible casting setup in the game. Daylight earns its slot on days when the encounter is right for it. 60 feet is enough range that Daylight doesn't pull the caster forward.
- Druid: Druids prepare Daylight from the full list each day, but the Wild Shape economy means prep cycles look different from a Cleric's. Daylight reaches 60 feet, which lets the caster stay clear of the front line.
- Paladin: A Paladin who plays primarily for Smite damage will use spell slots to upcast Smites; Daylight needs to clear that damage bar to earn the slot. At 60 feet, Daylight stays usable from the caster's typical positioning.
- Ranger: A Ranger picking Daylight compares it against the class's bread-and-butter Hunter's Mark — the slot economy favors picks that work in more than one terrain. The 60-foot range on Daylight leaves room for the caster to stay in the back line.
- Sorcerer: Twin Spell turns single-target spells into two-target spells; if Daylight is single-target, Twin doubles its value. At 60 feet, Daylight stays usable from the caster's typical positioning.
