Description
You launch a mote of light at one creature or object within range. Make a ranged spell attack against the target. On a hit, the target takes 1d8 Radiant damage, and until the end of your next turn, it emits Dim Light in a 10-foot radius and can't benefit from the Invisible condition.

School Fit
The Evocation tradition is direct. A spell is cast, an energy is released, a creature loses hit points. The school is the simplest to read and the hardest to play well, because positioning is the difference between a good Fireball and a TPK. What lands Starry Wisp in Evocation is the spell focuses magical energy into a visible, immediate effect. The cantrip slot on Starry Wisp means the spell is always castable, regardless of remaining spell slots.
Class Fit
- Bard: College of Lore Bards have the easiest case for Starry Wisp: Magical Secrets means the class can reach outside the standard list to grab adjacent picks. 60 feet is enough range that Starry Wisp doesn't pull the caster forward.
- Druid: Wisdom is the Druid's casting stat. The Druid's prep list reaches its peak utility in tier 2 when both Wild Shape and the spell list mature. Starry Wisp reaches 60 feet, which lets the caster stay clear of the front line.
